ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Center for Competitive Politics released a statement today following news that New York City Comptroller John Liu’s treasurer was arrested today on charges stemming from the fundraising scandal associated with his office.
“The arrest is more evidence that public funding of elections seems to lead to more corruption, not less,” said David Keating, CCP President. “Studies show that states with the least campaign regulation are among the best managed.”
CCP released a report last year on corruption in New York and on the potential corruption associated with other clean election campaigns.
