This weekend brings “trick or treat” to towns and cities all across the United States. And Americans are expected to spend approximately $5 billion this month on Halloween costumes, decorations, and candy. Needless to say, this money is undisclosed, and unregulated. Indeed, there will even be undisclosed, secret, unregulated spending by foreigners!
Meanwhile, over the two year election cycle ending on Tuesday, it is estimated that Americans will spend approximately $2 billion on political races for the U.S. House and Senate.
