Description:
The Center for Competitive Politics (CCP), is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Development Assistant. The position will involve substantial responsibility in assisting fundraising through soliciting institutional grants and individual donations.
Institutional Background:
The Center for Competitive Politics is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by former FEC Chairman Bradley A. Smith, professor of law at Capital University Law School and of counsel to Vorys, Sater, Seymour, and Pease, and Stephen M. Hoersting, campaign finance attorney and former general counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee. CCP’s mission, through legal briefs, studies, historical and constitutional analyses, and media communication, is to educate the public on the actual effects of money in politics, and the results of a more free and competitive electoral process.
Responsibilities:
The Development Assistant’s responsibilities will include:
- Assist in the writing and editing of grant proposals
- Assist in writing reports and newsletters to donors
- Assist in direct mail fundraising campaigns
- Manage press/media archives
- Oversee other aspects of donor contact and office administration
Background and skills:
The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail, strong writing skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and an ideological commitment to the robust protection of the First Amendment and political speech. Because the position will involve frequent interaction with the Executive Director, as well as donors, vendors, and allied organizations, excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
