ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Center for Competitive Politics (CCP) today announced the expansion of its legal department with the recent hiring of Anna Mackin and David Silvers and promotion of legal intern Zac Morgan.

“The addition of these highly-qualified attorneys will allow us to expand our efforts to fight unreasonable restrictions on our First Amendment rights,” said CCP Legal Director Allen Dickerson.

“Expanding our litigation efforts is a top priority and we are pleased to have them join our staff,” said CCP President David Keating.

Anna comes to CCP from the Cato Institute’s Center for Constitutional Studies. She holds a J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, a B.B.A. in International Business and a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Texas. During law school, she argued in the international rounds of the Jessup Moot Court Competition and served as a law clerk to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Anna is fluent in Spanish, admitted to practice in Texas, and is co-author of a forthcoming Cato Policy Analysis white paper.

David is a recent graduate of Georgetown University Law Center.  He graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in economics and history.  While at Georgetown, David interned with the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation.  Silvers was captain of his college forensics team and was a semifinalist at Georgetown’s Beaudry Moot Court Competition.  A native of the Chicago area, David currently resides in Washington, DC.

In addition to Anna and David, longtime CCP Legal Intern Zac Morgan recently graduated from the George Mason University School of Law and sat for the Virginia Bar Exam. He will be returning to the Center as a full-time staff Attorney. Prior to law school, Zac served as a political appointee with the U.S. Department of Justice and worked for the Maryland House of Delegates.

The Center’s new hires join staff attorney Tyler Martinez, who came to CCP in January. Tyler is a graduate of the Metropolitan College of Denver and attended law school at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Prior to joining CCP, Tyler maintained his own campaign-finance law practice in Colorado and worked for a libertarian advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C.

“CCP has changed the debate on campaign finance reform,” said Dickerson.  “We look forward to our new colleagues’ contributions to advancing the cause of liberty through litigation.”

The Center for Competitive Politics promotes and defends the First Amendment’s protection of political rights of speech, assembly, and petition. It is the only organization dedicated solely to protecting First Amendment political rights.
