Description:
The Center for Competitive Politics (CCP), is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Deputy Communications Director. The position will involve substantial responsibility in coordinating all aspects of CCP’s media presence. Salary for the position will be commensurate with experience.
Institutional Background:
CCP is a non-profit organization founded in 2005 by former FEC Chairman Bradley A. Smith, professor of law at Capital University Law School and of counsel to Vorys, Sater, Seymour, and Pease, and Stephen M. Hoersting, campaign finance attorney and former general counsel to the National Republican Senatorial Committee. CCP’s mission, through legal briefs, studies, historical and constitutional analyses, and media communication, is to educate the public on the actual effects of money in politics, and the results of a more free and competitive electoral process.
Responsibilities:
The Deputy Communications Director’s responsibilities will include:
-Educating members of the press
-Arranging press conferences, TV and radio appearances, and editorial board meetings for the Chairman
-Drafting press releases
-Placing op-eds
-Monitoring/archiving media mentions
Background and skills:
The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail, strong writing skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and an ideological/nonpartisan commitment to the robust protection of the First Amendment and political speech. Because the position will involve frequent interaction with the Chairman, as well as donors, vendors, and allied organizations, excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
